To be totally honest, I’m not a huge fan of a typical juice cleanse. I have been practicing nutrition for 5 years now, and never done a full blown cleanse… This is because it sort of freaks me out. I believe so strongly in listening to my body, and if I’m hungry… I’m going to eat. I was talking about this with a friend of mine (Tenley) last year, and we came up with this idea of creating a cleanse that you could do yourself, and that never left you feeling hungry.
So, after a year of brainstorming, creating, and designing, we are just weeks away from launching this cleanse!! We have teamed up with another great friend, (Chassie from Forkin’ Healthy) and she is doing all of our design work for the program.
The biggest theme in this project is to ‘get clean’ meaning just simply cleaning up your diet for a week. By simply avoiding caffeine, sugar and alcohol you can give your system a huge rest, and a great re-boot. By elimination the common food sensitivities like gluten, dairy and soy, you give your body an even greater chance to reset, and best of all, fell the effects from clean eating. For me these include WAY more energy, no brain fog at all, great elimination and a really good mood.
So this week I am officially on day 5 of my first cleanse ever. It’s been a combination of lots of clean eating, lots of juice, and no foods that will deplete my energy whatsoever. And wow, I can feel the difference. I can tell my skin is already brighter, energy has been really consistent and great, and I have even created more time to practice yoga which has been an awesome compliment to the cleanse.
One of my most fun parts of creating this cleanse is dreaming up the fun recipes. My favorite so far is called the ‘Sweet and Free Vanilla Breeze’ and it truly tastes like a milkshake. (You guys know I love my icecream…) so, I wanted to give you guys a little sneak peek where you could try one of these recipes out for yourself! Check it out! (ps. Only takes 5 minutes to make which you like I love as well!)
Sweet and Free Vanilla Breeze
2 T shredded coconut (unsweetened)
1 handful cashews
1 handful hazelnuts
1/2 t cinnamon
1 t vanilla
2 medjool dates
2 cups spring water
1 T cacao powder (optional if you feel like chocolate!)
Blend all ingredients on high in a vitamix for 1 minute.
*You can enjoy this as is, or try this awesome tip to make it more like a milkshake rather than a smoothie:
Strain into a cheesecloth (just like you do with almond milk) and then re-blend with a handful of ice. YUM!!
