Last night I thought I would try this crazy recipe for homemade deodorant. The more I learn about the lymph system and the key natural ways our body detoxes, it seems crazy to inhibit this system with antiperspirants. I know, this seems a bit to holistic doesn’t it. But, I thought I would give it a shot and so far it’s working (and smelling) awesome.
Ingredients
5 tbsp. Coconut oil
1/4 cup of baking soda
1/4 cup corn starch
Essential oils of your choice. I used Doterra’s Aroma-touch. Lemon, melaeluca and peppermint are also nice.
Method
Warm coconut oil in hot water until liquid consistency. Place baking soda and cornstarch in a bowl then begin to pour the coconut oil in. Add your essential oils and mix well.
I poured it into an empty deodorant dispenser and it’s magic- hardens just like deodorant. Note that if you keep this in your bathroom and you bathroom temp changes when you take a shower or something; since it has coconut oil in it then it will liquefy a little bit. Don’t worry this is normal and it will go back solid when it cools off. You can always stick it in your fridge if you like 🙂
And…Don’t think I’m crazy until you try it for yourself.
